Conquerors and Chroniclers of Early Medieval Spain (Translated Texts for Historians)
Published in Paperback by Liverpool Univ Pr (April, 1991)
Authors: Kenneth Baxter Wolf, Kenneth Baxer Wolf, Joao De Chronicon Biclara, and Vandalorum, Et Suevorum Isidore Historia De Regibus Gothorum
Average review score:

An Excellent Source for Early Medieval Spain
"Conquerors" is a compilation of four contemporary sources regarding early Medieval Spain, from the pre-Arab conquest era to the tenth-century AD. Of the four, two important sources are the "Chroncle of 754" and "History of the Goths" by Isidore of Seville. The "Chronicle of 754" is essential to the study of the 711 Arab conquest of Spain, since many of the Arab military leaders and governors are listed here. The tension between the Berbers under Arab command is also noted. Isidore of Seville's "History" provides a uniquely Spanish perspective to the history of the Visigoths and their eventual conversion to Catholic Christianity. The "Chronicle" of John of Biclaro and the "Chronicle of Alfonso III" are included as well.

The English translation makes "Conquerors" extremely valuable to English-speaking students and readers. An essay accompanies each source that critically analyzes the particular source it precedes. This analysis enhances "Conquerors'" value. Ample footnotes and a bibliography provide background information and leads for further study. Overall, "Conquerors" is an excellent book for those interested in seriously studying medieval Spain and the Arab conquest. Though "Conquerors" lacks Muslims sources, the essays and bibliography include Muslim perspectives that should be considered in understanding Iberian History.

Cut: The Unseen Cinema
Published in Paperback by Crown Pub (September, 1988)
Author: Baxter Phillips
Average review score:

A great book about movie scenes you normally won't see.
This book is magnificent! It tells of the history of movies that were censored because the were too violent or to sexy. The book covers movies from the beginning of the cinema up to the 1970's. The book's pages are also covered in screen shots of the cut scenes from the movies. Alot of them contain nudity, so don't let the kids get ahold of it. If you are a movie buff like me, then you need this book! It definitely the best book I have ever bought!

Mission To The Arctic
My son really enjoyed this book! LEGOs is his favorite pastime. He really enjoyed seeing the characters which he plays with come to life. It is so hard finding books for boys in the age range 8-10 and this book helps fill in the some of that missing gap. I really liked the glossary in the back where scientific terms are introduce to children as they read about the LEGO adventure. I will be looking forward to seeing more adventures on the lego character. The art in the books is so realistic to LEGOs. Great Book!

Does God Still Guide?
Published in Paperback by Kregel Publications (June, 1991)
Author: J. Sidlow Baxter
Average review score:

Does God Still Guide?
Does He? Or doesn't He?

He absolutely does, as this wonderful book proves. But, since His ways are higher than our ways, He guides in "mysterious ways, His wonders to perform". He guides through His Holy Spirit, which dwells in us from the time we ask Jesus into our hearts. And He doesn't always lead how we would expect!

Find out how He is leading in YOUR life through this inspirational, God-glorifying book.

And if you haven't accepted Jesus into your life, you need to do that now. We have all sinned, and would have to pay that price when we die by going to hell .... except that Jesus died voluntarily for us. He didn't deserve the punishment, but He took it for us, so that whoever believes in Him, and calls out to Him sincerely in the name of the Lord, and asks Him to come into his heart, and wash his sins away, will be saved. Saved from what? Saved from going to hell.

We will all live eternally. Some (those who don't believe in Jesus) will go to the fiery hell. And those who believe in Jesus and have accepted Him into their hearts will go to heaven, the Paradise of glory, forever.

I'm going to heaven. Will you meet me there?

Either you like it or you don't
I thought it was hilarious, but my kids just looked at me funny while I was reading it to them. Extremely educational, in a sort of offbeat way. Great illustrations. I can't believe the price! Your local library has a copy- check it out. That's where mine came from.
